The year is 1968, and you have three small sports saloons to choose from.
DD, Track & Burn. Go!
The Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 S, 94BHP 1.6 I4.
The BMW 2002, 98BHP 2.0 I4.
The Saab 99, 86BHP 1.7 I4.
Note that none of these cars are the ‘Turbo’ or ‘GT’ versions, just the stock mid-range models available at the time.
The Alfa is the driver’s choice, while the BMW has power on its side and the Saab is the most refined car here. Once again, you choose.

Why get a 1.6 Giulia when you could get the 1750 Berlina. The Berlina first released in ‘68 is a far more substantial car. It has the most hp - 116 Hp, Also has a 5 spd transmission wheras the BMW had a 4 speed. The Berlina was a far advanced car for ‘68. I actually owned a ‘69 for about 5 years identical to the below.

Absolutely, I’d say it even looks better too.
Simple reason why I didn’t include it was because it would outclass the other cars.

Worst Alfa?
Enter the Arna. Featuring Japanese styling and Italian reliability.
Truly a match made in heaven (if it was the other way round).

Nope, it was the 96 which ran V4 engines. The 99 had a (slant) inline 4.

The alfa’s are the odd duck of the collector car era. The sedans and coupes are worth more than the convertibles.

But underneath it’s a Datsun Cherry but with its main asset (reliability) completely removed. So, a marriage of dull and unusable.
Seriously, this was probably their biggest failure.

Wrong. DD the Bimmer, it’s infinitely more reliable. Track the Alfa, it is race-bred after all.
